Chapter 2 - The Stolen Ghost

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing silence gripped the snowy street.
Dante stared at the brave little girl, utterly stunned by her immense pride. But as his dark, calculating eyes drifted down to the silver pocket watch in her trembling hand, his heart completely stopped beating.
He didn't just recognize the watch. It was his.
It was a custom-made, antique silver timepiece engraved with his family's crest—a howling wolf. He had given that exact watch away seven years ago to the only woman he had ever truly loved. Her name was Clara.
Clara had been his entire world, the only light in his dark, violent life. But seven years ago, Dante’s trusted underboss, Silas, had come to him with a heartbreaking, forged letter. Silas claimed Clara had taken a massive payoff from a rival syndicate, aborted Dante's unborn child, and fled the city forever. Dante had spent the last seven years completely hollow, his heart turned to absolute titanium, believing the woman he loved had betrayed him for cash.
But now, holding his breath in the freezing blizzard, Dante looked closely at the six-year-old girl in the floral dress.
He saw the exact shade of Clara’s blonde hair. He saw the familiar, fierce stubbornness in her jawline. And he saw his own piercing, dark eyes staring back at him.
A medium close-up captured Dante slowly lowering the stack of cash. The terrifying, untouchable mafia boss was deeply, profoundly moved, his hands shaking violently as the horrific, undeniable truth finally clicked into place.
Clara hadn't aborted their baby. Clara hadn't taken a payoff.
"What is your name, little one?" Dante whispered, his voice cracking with a raw, agonizing emotion he hadn't felt in seven years.

"Sophie," she replied, her teeth chattering in the snow.
👉 Dante realized his daughter was freezing on the street, and his panic instantly transformed into a lethal, desperate mission.
