Chapter 6 - The Apex Predator

Dante effortlessly lifted Clara into his strong arms, pulling her tightly against his chest, while his lead bodyguard carefully carried little Sophie.

They marched out of the freezing, condemned alleyway and straight into the heavily armored black SUV. The vehicle’s interior was blissfully warm, the heat blasting instantly to save Clara and Sophie from the biting cold. Dante wrapped them both in thick, luxurious wool blankets he kept in the trunk.

"You are safe now," Dante whispered fiercely, pressing a gentle, lingering kiss to Clara’s freezing forehead, tears finally falling from his dark eyes. "I swear on my life, Clara, no one will ever touch you or our daughter again."

Clara leaned her head against his chest, completely exhausted, finally realizing the man she loved had never betrayed her. The monstrous nightmare was officially over.

But Dante’s nightmare was just beginning.

He pulled out his encrypted cell phone and dialed his Head of Security, a massive, fiercely loyal enforcer named Rocco who absolutely despised Silas.

"Rocco," Dante commanded, his voice a freezing, lethal frequency that promised nothing but blood. "Where is Silas right now?"

"He's at the downtown penthouse headquarters, Boss," Rocco replied immediately. "Drinking your whiskey and bragging to the capos about the new offshore accounts he's setting up."

"Lock the penthouse down," Dante ordered coldly. "Do not let him leave. Do not let his personal guards draw their weapons. I am on my way."

Dante hung up the phone. He looked at Clara and Sophie, who were finally drifting to sleep in the absolute safety of the armored vehicle. He gently stroked his daughter's blonde hair, his jaw clenched tight.

👉 Dante stepped out of the vehicle and walked toward the headquarters, ready to execute a flawlessly calculated slaughter.
