Chapter 1 - The Ghost in the Red Gown

The grand luxury American gala ballroom was a suffocating masterpiece of absolute wealth. Massive crystal chandeliers cast a warm, glittering light over the polished marble floors. Elaborate white floral arrangements stood on every mahogany table, and the city’s most elite, untouchable billionaires murmured in hushed, polite tones.

But in the center of the crowded room, the most feared syndicate boss in the city was completely paralyzed.

Vincent stood frozen. He was a powerfully built, handsome man in his late thirties, wearing a flawlessly tailored black suit and a crisp tie. He was a man who commanded a criminal empire, a man who never showed a single ounce of fear or hesitation.

But right now, all the blood had violently drained from his face.

Standing thirty feet away, walking gracefully across the marble floor, was a ghost.

It was Anna.

His wife. The woman who had supposedly burned to death in a horrific car explosion exactly three years ago. She wasn't a ghost. She was breathtakingly real. Her brown hair was pinned up in an elegant updo, and she wore a stunning, sparkling red gown with a high slit that caught the light of every chandelier. She looked radiant, completely alive, and she was smiling at someone across the room.

She walked right past Vincent’s line of sight, completely ignoring his existence.

"Anna?" Vincent whispered, his deep voice cracking, breathless with a shock that shattered his entire soul.

Standing right beside Vincent was Sophia. She was a beautiful, calculating blonde woman in a dark blue sequined dress. She was Vincent’s first love, the woman who had stepped in to "comfort" him after Anna’s tragic death. She was supposed to marry him next month.
