Chapter 6 - The Poisoned Lie

Vincent stared at Anna, the agonizing truth tearing him apart from the inside out.

"If you survived," Vincent choked out, his voice cracking with desperation. "If you knew she planted the bomb... why didn't you come to me? Why did you let me believe you were dead for three years? Why did you hide my son?"

Anna looked at him, her eyes filling with genuine tears of profound betrayal.

"Because she told me you ordered the hit," Anna cried softly.

Vincent flinched as if he had been shot in the chest.

"Sophia told me that you were tired of me," Anna explained, her voice trembling with the trauma of that night. "She said that you never wanted a child, and that you had ordered her to clean up your mess so you could marry your first love. She said if I didn't run, your men would hunt me down and kill my baby."

Vincent was entirely paralyzed. The sheer, calculating evil of the deception was sickening. Sophia hadn't just tried to murder his wife; she had psychologically tortured her, forcing a pregnant woman to flee into the shadows, terrified that her own husband was trying to execute her.

"It's a lie!" Sophia screamed hysterically, gripping Vincent’s suit jacket. "She's trying to frame me! She ran away with another man! Where is your proof, you crazy bitch?!"

Anna didn't flinch. She reached her free hand into her sparkling red designer clutch.
