Chapter 6 - The Silent Takedown

Vince didn't even get the chance to draw his weapon.

Grant moved with blinding, cinematic speed. He didn't pull a gun in a hospital corridor filled with innocent people. He used his bare hands.

With devastating force, Grant lunged forward, grabbing Vince’s wrist and twisting it violently upward. A sickening crack echoed through the hall as Vince’s arm broke. The heavy pistol clattered harmlessly onto the polished floor.

Vince screamed in agony, but Grant clamped a massive hand over his mouth, slamming him brutally back into the wall.

"You burned my mother," Grant whispered directly into Vince's ear, his voice sounding like the devil himself. "You killed the man who saved her. And you put your hands on his pregnant widow."

Vince’s eyes bulged with pure terror, choking on his own blood.

Grant didn't kill him. Death was too easy. He looked over his shoulder at his three most loyal bodyguards, men who had been entirely unaware of the mutiny.

"Take him to the basement of the meatpacking warehouse," Grant ordered, his tone stripped of all humanity. "Do not let him die quickly. I want him to feel exactly what it’s like to burn."

The guards violently grabbed the sobbing, broken underboss by his collar, dragging him out the back service elevator so quietly that the remaining hospital staff barely noticed.

Grant adjusted his tailored navy suit, breathing heavily. The traitor was gone, but the nightmare wasn't over.
