Chapter 2 - The Ghost with Amnesia

The entire upscale restaurant was dead silent. Rico slowly stood up, his towering frame casting a dark shadow over the marble floor.

He stared intensely at the waitress kneeling in front of his son. Without the heavy designer makeup, without the expensive jewelry, and with her hair pulled back into a simple, messy updo, the cinematic realization hit him like a freight train.

She looked exactly like his wife, Isabella, who had supposedly burned to death in a horrific car crash exactly six months ago. The same crash that had left little Leo so deeply traumatized he had completely stopped speaking.

"Who are you?" Rico demanded, his voice dropping to a dangerous, breathless whisper.

Clara looked up, genuinely terrified by the intense mafia boss. "My name is Clara, sir. I... I just started working here. Please don't hurt me."

"Where were you six months ago?" Rico pressed, stepping closer, completely ignoring his bleeding bodyguard.

Clara swallowed hard, instinctively shielding little Leo with her white apron. "I don't know," she admitted, tears welling in her innocent eyes. "I woke up in a charity hospital six months ago with severe trauma to my head. I have amnesia. The diner owner found me wandering the streets and gave me a job. I don't remember my past."

Rico’s blood turned to absolute ice. He looked down at Leo, who was clinging to Clara’s waitress uniform with a desperate, unbreakable grip, refusing to let her go. A child's soul never forgot its mother, even if her mind was erased.

Rico didn't pull his gun. He looked at Dante.
