Chapter 2 - The Wall of Muscle

Ellie, a 26-year-old waitress with her brown hair tied in a messy updo and secured with a pink ruffled headband, didn't care about the guns pointed in her direction. She saw two infants dying, and her intense focus completely overrode her fear of the mafia.
She lunged toward the center table.
Instantly, a massive guard wearing a sharp black suit stepped into her path. His face was a mask of cold hostility. He violently grabbed Ellie’s fragile arm, his thick fingers digging painfully into her skin, entirely halting her momentum.
"Step back, waitress," the guard growled, his hand resting menacingly on the grip of his holstered weapon. "Nobody gets near the boss."
Ellie struggled, her white apron twisting as she tried to break free. She looked past the massive wall of muscle, her eyes locking onto the seizing infants. They didn't have minutes. They had seconds.
Damien fell to his knees on the carpet, his heart shattering into a million pieces as his sons’ tiny bodies convulsed against his chest. He was a billionaire with an army of killers, but all his wealth and power were utterly useless to save his children. He looked up, his desperate, tear-filled eyes catching the struggle between his guard and the waitress in pink.
"Let her go!" Damien roared, his voice a devastating, desperate thunderclap that silenced the entire dining room.
