Chapter 6 - The Federal Warrants

The heavy, suffocating silence in the courtyard was broken only by the sound of Mr. Vance hyperventilating.

Mrs. Kettering’s elegant blonde updo seemed to tremble as she stared at the wealthy, respected banker. "Mr. Vance... is that true? Were you trying to steal from an orphan?"

"He's a liar!" Mr. Vance shrieked wildly, completely abandoning his sophisticated, elite persona. His face flushed a violent, toxic red. "He is a known mafia boss! He is trying to kidnap a child! Call the police immediately!"

"I already did," Dominic replied smoothly, entirely devoid of fear.

Before Mr. Vance could turn around and run, the heavy iron gates of the orphanage swung open with a violent, metallic crash.

Three massive, heavily armored black SUVs aggressively tore up the gravel driveway, stopping directly in front of the grand stone building. But it wasn't Dominic’s cartel enforcers stepping out of the vehicles.

It was federal agents.

Four heavily armed FBI agents in tactical vests marched directly across the lush green grass. They didn't look at the confused, wealthy couples. They marched straight toward the arrogant banker and his wife.

"Arthur Vance," the lead federal agent barked loudly, his hand resting firmly on his utility belt. "You are under arrest for massive corporate wire fraud, bank embezzlement, and conspiracy to commit grand larceny."

Mr. Vance let out an apocalyptic shriek of pure, unadulterated terror. He wasn't just losing the ten million dollars; he was going straight to a federal penitentiary.

"No! Please!" Mr. Vance wailed hysterically, thrashing wildly as two massive agents violently grabbed his arms and snapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists. "My wife made me do it! She wanted the money!"

👉 The arrogant banker threw his own wife under the bus, completely unaware that Dominic had one final, terrifying surprise.
