Chapter 7 - The True Guardian

"You pathetic coward!" Mrs. Vance screamed, completely turning on her husband as a female federal agent violently arrested her. "I am not going to prison for your stupid bank fraud!"

The wealthy, elite onlookers watched in absolute, stunned silence as the cruel, arrogant couple was forcefully dragged backward across the beautiful courtyard, crying and screaming in total, undeniable disgrace. They were shoved aggressively into the back of the armored SUVs, completely humiliated in front of the city's high society.

The chaotic, toxic energy was entirely dragged out of the sunny courtyard.

Mrs. Kettering stood frozen on the grass, clutching her light blue dress, completely overwhelmed by the explosive, lethal corporate slaughter she had just witnessed.

"Mr. Moretti," Mrs. Kettering stammered, her voice cracking into a high-pitched squeal of pure terror. "I... I had absolutely no idea they were trying to steal from her. I swear to you. Please don't hurt me."

Dominic didn't even look at the terrified director. He reached into his sharp black suit and pulled out a thick, legally notarized document stamped with a federal seal.

"You aren't worth hurting, Mrs. Kettering," Dominic stated clinically, handing her the heavy paperwork. "This is a federally expedited, absolute emergency custody order. Signed by a federal judge thirty minutes ago. I am officially Lily's legal guardian."

Mrs. Kettering’s hands shook violently as she took the paperwork. She knew absolutely no one in the state would dare challenge a federal judge backed by the most powerful mafia boss in the country.

"Of... of course," Mrs. Kettering whispered, bowing her head in complete submission. "She is all yours."
