Chapter 10 - The Queen of Chicago

Dante let out a broken, genuine laugh. The suffocating weight of the last three years finally lifted off his broad shoulders.
He gently took my left hand, being incredibly careful not to jar my injuries, and slid the flawless diamond ring onto my finger. It fit perfectly.
"You are never working behind a desk again, Harper," Dante vowed, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every single syllable. "You are the smartest, bravest person I have ever met. From this exact second forward, you aren't my secretary. You are my equal. You are my wife."
Tears of pure, unadulterated joy finally spilled down my cheeks.

Dante kept his promise. We were married in a private, beautiful ceremony on the estate grounds. I didn't wear a grey secretary suit; I wore custom white silk.
