Chapter 6 - The Executioner Wakes

The cinematic tension in the bedroom was absolutely suffocating.
I held my breath, the cold steel of the revolver pressing painfully against my skin. I didn't scream. I kept my eyes locked entirely on Dante.
Dante didn't raise his hands in surrender. He didn't negotiate with the terrorist in his bedroom.
"You think you're the first person to point a gun in my house?" Dante whispered, his voice completely devoid of any human mercy.
With blinding, terrifying speed, Dante moved. He didn't lunge forward. He reached behind his back, drew a heavy, suppressed tactical handgun, and fired a single, flawless shot in a fraction of a microsecond.
Thwip.
The bullet shattered Camilla’s right shoulder.
Camilla let out a horrific, high-pitched shriek of pure agony. The pearl-handled revolver dropped from her useless, bleeding fingers, clattering harmlessly onto the hardwood floor. She violently collapsed backward, clutching her shattered collarbone.
Dante closed the distance in two massive strides. He didn't even look at Camilla. He immediately leaned over the bed, his massive hands gently framing my bruised face, his dark eyes frantically searching for any new injuries.
"Are you okay?" he choked out, his voice cracking with raw, unfiltered desperation.
"I'm okay," I breathed, tears of sheer relief finally spilling down my cheeks.
Dante let out a heavy, shuddering sigh. The terrifying executioner vanished for exactly three seconds, replaced entirely by a man who had just saved his entire universe.
