Chapter 3 - The Cowardly Lawyer

"Security!" Margaret shrieked wildly, violently waving her hand to break the terrifying silence. She completely abandoned her sophisticated, high-society persona. She looked like a feral, cornered animal. "Get this filthy street rat out of my ballroom! She’s trying to extort us!"

Not a single security guard in the building moved. The elite estate guards answered exclusively to Dominic, and they could see the terrifying, demonic fury violently awakening in the mafia boss's dark eyes.

Dominic slowly stood up from the mahogany table. He completely dominated the massive room without even raising his voice. He gently took the burned white card from the eight-year-old girl's trembling hand.

He flipped the card over. Hand-written on the back, in his sister's exact, unmistakable handwriting, was a single word: LUNCHBOX.

Dominic’s lethal gaze locked entirely onto the small, dented vintage lunchbox Emily was clutching against her light blue lace dress.

Suddenly, an older man stepped out from the crowd of wealthy guests. It was Vincent, a sixty-something corporate lawyer with gray hair and a beard, wearing a tailored dark blue suit. Vincent was Margaret’s personal attorney, the man who had facilitated the massive estate transfer.

"Mr. Moretti, please," Vincent panicked loudly, sweating profusely as he stepped toward the table. "The child is clearly traumatized and confused. We need to finish signing the legal documents. The court order expires at midnight."

"The court order is completely dead," Dominic whispered coldly, entirely devoid of human mercy.

👉 Dominic reached gently for the vintage lunchbox, completely ready to expose a multi-million-dollar murder.
