Chapter 5 - The Stolen Life

"What is on this drive, Emily?" Dominic asked, his deep voice trembling with heavy, undeniable emotion.

"Mommy said it has the videos of the bad lady locking the doors," Emily whispered, pointing her tiny finger directly at Margaret.

The entire grand ballroom was completely paralyzed. The wealthy guests gasped in absolute, breathtaking shock.

"You're lying!" Margaret wailed pathetically, aggressively pointing her manicured finger back at the little girl. "Sophia burned to death! I saw the body!"

"You saw the body of the homeless woman you paid Vincent to place in the house," Dominic stated clinically, the horrific, twisted puzzle finally snapping flawlessly into place.

Dominic stood up, holding the hard drive. The dark, terrifying aura of the untouchable mafia boss violently returned.

"Sophia survived the fire," Dominic explained smoothly, ensuring the entire VIP section heard every single devastating word. "She knew you tried to murder her to steal her real estate shares. But she was pregnant, and she knew you owned the local police. So she went completely off the grid. she hid in the shadows for eight years to protect her daughter, gathering the absolute, undeniable digital proof of your corporate embezzlement and attempted murder."

Margaret’s jaw literally unhinged. All the color violently drained from her flawless face.

She looked down at the eight-year-old girl in the blue lace dress. Emily didn't just have Sophia's vintage lunchbox. She had Sophia's exact brown hair, Sophia's nose, and Dominic's dark, intelligent eyes.
