Chapter 6 - The Toxic Threat

"You have no proof!" Margaret shrieked wildly, violently thrashing her arms as her entire high-society identity completely shattered.

She aggressively pointed at the hard drive in Dominic’s hand.

"That drive is illegally obtained!" Margaret screamed, completely abandoning her sophisticated persona. "It won't hold up in federal court! I am a multi-millionaire! I will tie you up in civil litigation for decades! You will never see a dime of those shares!"

"I don't need a federal court, Margaret," Dominic whispered coldly. "I'm the head of a mafia syndicate."

Margaret physically stopped breathing. The warm ballroom lighting suddenly felt incredibly freezing. She had been so blinded by her corporate greed that she genuinely forgot she was trying to steal from the most dangerous apex predator in the city.

Vincent, the cowardly lawyer, desperately tried to crawl toward the exit on his hands and knees.

"Stop him," Dominic commanded flawlessly.

Two massive, heavily armed syndicate enforcers stepped completely out of the shadows, aggressively grabbing the weeping lawyer by the arms and violently hauling him back to the center of the ballroom.

"Mr. Moretti, please!" Vincent sobbed hysterically. "She made me do it! She paid me a million dollars to forge the dental records for the body in the fire! I'll testify against her!"

"You pathetic coward!" Margaret roared aggressively, lunging toward her own lawyer.

👉 Before Margaret could take two steps, the heavy mahogany doors of the ballroom violently burst open.
