Chapter 10 - The Peaceful Holiday

Miles away, the luxury downtown apartment was bathed in warm, beautiful morning light.
Rachel sat comfortably on her plush living room rug, wearing cozy white loungewear. She wasn't carrying the heavy, agonizing burden of protecting her parents' fragile egos anymore. She looked incredibly, profoundly at peace.
Lily sat next to her, wearing a bright pink sweater, laughing joyfully as she unwrapped a massive, beautiful dollhouse. The seven-year-old wasn't crying. She wasn't hiding in the hallway. She was the center of her mother’s universe, exactly where she was always supposed to be.
Rachel watched her daughter smile, knowing she had executed the most agonizing but necessary decision of her entire life. She had protected her child from a lifetime of psychological abuse, and she had completely dismantled the monsters who thought they were untouchable.
Diane and the grandfather were forced to move into a tiny, rundown, freezing apartment on the outskirts of the city, surviving entirely on meager social security checks. Their country club friends completely abandoned them.
Rachel never spoke to them again. She expanded her career, doubled her savings, and raised Lily with absolute grace, fierce independence, and undeniable compassion.

The dark shadows of manipulation, toxic favoritism, and cruel disrespect were permanently banished from their lives, replaced by an empire built on absolute peace, undeniable courage, and perfect justice.
If you were Rachel, would you have warned them before cutting the power, or was letting them get evicted in the freezing winter the absolute perfect revenge?
