Chapter 6 - The Ghost's Escape

Dominic gasped, his dark eyes snapping open as the adrenaline violently flooded his system.
He didn't look sad. The cinematic realism of his absolute, apocalyptic rage was suffocating. His heart had been shattered, but his mind had perfectly sharpened into a lethal weapon.
"We have exactly five minutes before his hitmen come to clear my body," Dominic growled, silently swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. He winced, gripping his stitched shoulder, but pushed through the agonizing pain.
"How do we get out?" I whispered, throwing my medical supplies back into the canvas duffel bag. "Vincent has the front of the house locked down."
Dominic didn't answer. He walked over to the massive walk-in closet, pushed aside a row of heavy winter coats, and pressed his bloody thumb against a hidden biometric scanner on the wall.
A heavy, soundproof steel panel slid open, revealing a dark, narrow service corridor.
"Every king has a backdoor," Dominic whispered coldly.
We slipped into the hidden passage just as heavy footsteps returned to the master suite. The steel door clicked shut seamlessly behind us, plunging us into total darkness. Through the walls, I could hear Vincent screaming in pure, frantic panic as he realized the bed was completely empty.
Dominic navigated the dark tunnels perfectly, leading us entirely off the estate property and into a damp, underground parking garage where an untraceable, armored black SUV was waiting.
