Chapter 6 - The Traitors Arrive

"Boss, we need to move you to a secure location," the lead guard urged, stepping forward with a medical kit. "If Marcus ordered the hit, he will have loyalists waiting at the compound."

"No," Dante commanded smoothly, wiping the blood from his eyes. "We stay exactly where we are."

Before anyone could argue, a sleek, silver luxury Bentley sped up the winding mountain road, skidding to a halt near the broken steel guardrail.

The heavy doors swung open.

Marcus stepped out, wearing a long black trench coat, accompanied by Elena, who was holding a lace umbrella over her elegant gala dress. They had driven up the mountain to personally verify that Dante's car was at the bottom of the ravine, ready to fake their grief for the police.

"Oh my god, the guardrail!" Elena cried out with fake, theatrical panic. "Dante's car! Marcus, tell me he's okay!"

They rushed toward the edge of the cliff, entirely expecting to look down at a burning wreck.

Instead, they looked straight into the cold, living eyes of Dante.

All the color violently drained from Marcus’s face. Elena physically staggered backward, dropping her expensive umbrella into the mud. The sheer, unadulterated terror hijacking their nervous systems was breathtaking.

"Dante..." Marcus gasped, his voice cracking with pure, humiliating panic. "You're... you're alive! Thank God! The guards called and said there was an accident!"

Then, Elena noticed Cara standing right behind Dante, wearing the torn red gown, holding the cracked cell phone.

👉 Elena realized her massive secret was completely exposed, and she was about to make a fatal, desperate mistake.
