Chapter 9 - The Banishment

"Dante, we're your family!" Marcus sobbed, crawling on the wet asphalt. "Just shoot us! Don't hand us to the cartel!"
"You stopped being my family the moment you put a hit on an innocent kid to get to me," Dante replied quietly.
He looked at his loyal head of security.
"Strip them," Dante ordered.
The massive guards stepped forward. They violently ripped the expensive trench coat off Marcus's shoulders and tore the diamond engagement ring off Elena's trembling finger. They confiscated their phones, their wallets, and the keys to the Bentley.
"Throw them in the trunk of the SUV," Dante commanded coldly. "Drive them directly to the Chicago cartel's headquarters. Tell the boss that Marcus lost their ten million dollars. Let the wolves handle the thieves."
"No! Please! Dante!" Elena and Marcus screamed hysterically, thrashing wildly as the guards violently hauled them to their feet.
They were dragged mercilessly across the mud and thrown into the back of a dark transport vehicle. The heavy metal doors slammed shut, completely swallowing their toxic existence into violent ruin forever.
The threat was permanently neutralized. The empire was secure.
The chaotic, violent energy on the cliffside evaporated, leaving only the sound of the freezing rain hitting the asphalt.
