Chapter 5 - The Cornered Snake
Vincent grabbed Chloe by her wrist, violently yanking her sleeve up.
There, stamped into her pale skin, was the undeniable red snake emblem of the Barone syndicate.
"You brought my enemies to my son," Vincent whispered, his voice vibrating with a demonic fury.
Chloe screamed, trying to pull away, but Vincent’s grip was like iron. He slammed her back into the mahogany table, pinning her in place. The guards instantly drew their weapons, pointing them directly at the traitorous nanny.
"They have my brother!" Chloe sobbed hysterically, completely dropping her innocent facade. "The Barones told me if I didn't track your plane, they would kill him! I had no choice, Vincent! They are waiting for you at the landing strip! You're already dead!"
Vincent’s expression didn't change. He simply stared at the pathetic woman who had sold out an infant's life.
"You think I'm flying blind?" Vincent asked coldly.
He reached into his black suit jacket and pulled out his encrypted smartphone. He showed the screen to Chloe. It was a live satellite feed of the private landing strip they were scheduled to land at.
Surrounding the runway were dozens of armed Barone men, waiting in the shadows to ambush the plane.

"They are waiting for me," Vincent agreed smoothly. "But I already knew there was a rat in my house. I just didn't know it was you."
