Chapter 8 - The Shipyard Raid

Vincent handed the burner phone to his lead guard.

"Send the coordinates to the strike team," Vincent ordered. "Tell them to breach the shipyard immediately. Leave no one standing."

While the plane began its descent toward the secure military base, a brutal, cinematic raid was unfolding miles away.

Vincent's elite tactical team descended on the abandoned shipyard. The Barone guards, completely caught off guard and demoralized by the capture of their boss, stood no chance. The heavy metal doors of the warehouse were blown open.

Inside a freezing, damp storage container, Leah’s mother, Maria, was huddled in the corner, bruised and terrified, expecting the worst.

Instead, men in black tactical gear breached the container. They didn't point their weapons at her.

"Maria?" the team leader asked gently, lowering his rifle. "Vincent Moretti sent us. Your daughter is safe. We're taking you to her."

Maria broke down into heavy, beautiful sobs of absolute relief, letting the men guide her out of the darkness and into the waiting armored vehicle.

Back on the plane, the wheels touched down smoothly on the secure tarmac.

Vincent turned his attention back to Chloe, who was handcuffed and shivering in her seat.

"You betrayed a child," Vincent said, his voice devoid of all mercy. "You will be handed over to the federal authorities with a full dossier of your syndicate's crimes. You will spend the rest of your life in a concrete box."
