Chapter 6 - The Husband's Return

A heavy, incredibly expensive black SUV violently tore through the snowy driveway, skidding to a harsh halt directly in front of the stone courtyard.
Greg, a thirty-something corporate executive wearing a tailored gray suit, sprinted out of the driver’s seat. He looked frantic, holding a massive, thick envelope of cash in his hands. He had completely drained his corporate retirement fund to pay his mother for the broken watch.
"Mom! Vivian!" Greg yelled breathlessly, slipping slightly in the snow. "I have the money! I got the ten thousand!"
Greg stopped completely dead in his tracks.
He looked at his sick, freezing three-year-old son crying in Vivian's arms. He looked at the shattered pieces of the custom wig scattered in the snow. And then, he looked at his wealthy mother, who was physically trembling in the doorway, staring at Vivian's phone with pure, unadulterated terror.
"Greg, thank God!" Agnes shrieked wildly, lunging toward her son in a desperate, feral panic. "Vivian is completely insane! She threw the wig in the snow! She's holding Toby hostage! She altered a video to frame me!"
Greg frowned deeply, profound confusion washing over his face. "What video?"
Vivian didn't scream. She didn't cry. She simply turned her smartphone around and handed it directly to her husband.
