Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Loyalty

The chaotic, violent energy was physically dragged out of the executive wing.

The heavy glass door clicked shut, leaving Emma completely alone with the most dangerous man in the city. The suffocating terror she had carried for three years completely evaporated, replaced by an overwhelming, profound sense of safety.

Emma looked up at Adrian. She didn't see a ruthless mafia boss; she saw a heroic, fiercely protective leader who had delivered the absolute justice the law had failed to provide.

"Are you okay, Emma?" Adrian asked softly. His intense, intimidating demeanor completely melted away, replaced by genuine, deeply respectful concern for his analyst.

"I'm free," Emma whispered, tears of pure joy and relief finally spilling down her cheeks. "Thank you, Mr. Moretti. I don't know how to repay you."

"You don't owe me anything," Adrian replied warmly, gently handing her the finalized divorce papers. "Take a week of paid leave. Heal your ribs. When you come back to the office next Monday, your new corner suite will be ready. You're being promoted to Senior Director of Analytics."

Emma clutched the papers to her chest, her heart soaring. She didn't have to hide her bruises anymore. She was completely secure, financially independent, and fiercely protected by an empire that valued absolute loyalty.

Greg was banished to a brutal life of hard labor in the freezing Chicago shipping yards, forced to pay for his arrogance in sweat and blood.

Emma stood tall in the beautiful, sunlit executive hallway, knowing she was finally untouchable.

If you were Emma, would you have warned Greg about the security background check, or was letting him walk straight into the mafia’s trap the absolute perfect revenge?
