Chapter 2 - The Foundation Streak

The heavy, suffocating silence in the NICU was dripping with cinematic tension.

Graham didn't rush to his wife's side. He didn't drop to his knees and kiss her hand, thanking God that she and their son had survived the brutal surgery. The arrogant billionaire simply stood perfectly upright in his expensive overcoat.

He completely refused to look Audrey in the eyes. Instead, he kept his gaze fixed firmly on the fragile baby inside the plastic box, trying to maintain his aura of dominant, untouchable control.

"My phone died, Audrey," Graham stated defensively, his tone sharp and completely devoid of human empathy. "I was in back-to-back meetings with international investors. I came as soon as my assistant got the message."

A tight, cinematic close-up captured Audrey’s face.

She stared at the man she had loved for three years. The desperate, heartbroken wife completely vanished. Her realistic micro-expressions shifted from profound grief into a cold, terrifying, and razor-sharp realization.

Audrey’s eyes dropped to his wrist. She saw his massive, custom black smartwatch glowing faintly.

Then, her eyes moved up to his crisp white shirt. Right on the edge of the unbuttoned collar, partially hidden by the charcoal overcoat, was a distinct, pale streak of expensive liquid foundation.
