Chapter 1 - The Bloody Red Roses

The luxurious Chicago corporate headquarters lobby was a breathtaking masterpiece of intimidating, untouchable wealth. The warm, golden afternoon lighting reflected flawlessly off the polished black marble floors and massive crystal chandeliers. Behind the expansive front desk, floor-to-ceiling glass windows offered a commanding, glittering view of the city skyline. It was an environment designed to make ordinary people feel incredibly small.

But Claire was not an ordinary woman.

The thirty-two-year-old wife of the CEO walked through the heavy glass doors with absolute, breathtaking grace. She wore an elegant pink floral embroidered gown with sheer lace sleeves that perfectly complimented her delicate, sparkling diamond jewelry. Hanging from her arm was a beige quilted designer handbag. Cradled securely against her chest was her beautiful one-month-old baby girl, dressed in a soft pink lace outfit and a matching pink headband.

Claire did not look like a heartbroken, postpartum victim. She radiated a calm, confident, and quietly terrifying aura.

She walked directly up to the polished black marble reception desk. In her free hand, she carried an enormous, wildly expensive bouquet of deep red roses.

A medium wide shot captured the heavy, suffocating tension as Claire calmly placed the massive bouquet directly onto the pristine desk. The receptionist, a woman in her late twenties with dark hair styled in a neat bun and wearing a strict black professional uniform, looked up in absolute, stunned surprise.

"Please send these flowers to Sophia," Claire commanded softly, her voice echoing with a smooth, lethal elegance.

The receptionist blinked, her eyes darting from the beautiful baby to the massive arrangement of romantic red flowers.

"What's the occasion, Mrs. Moretti?" the receptionist asked nervously, her hands trembling slightly as she reached for the vase.

A tight close-up captured Claire’s face. She didn't cry. She didn't scream. She simply smiled a calm, chillingly sarcastic smile, looking directly into the receptionist's eyes.

"My husband bought Sophia a mansion," Claire replied, her voice ringing clearly across the dead-silent lobby.

👉 The receptionist stopped breathing, completely unaware that the billionaire CEO was marching up right behind them.
