Chapter 2 - The Two-Year Betrayal

To understand the sheer, unhinged audacity of Victor's morning ambush, one had to look back at the empire they had built together.

Twenty years ago, Rachel and Victor had started their luxury real estate development company from a tiny, cramped apartment. Rachel was the brilliant, meticulous architect who designed their most lucrative high-rises. Victor was simply the charismatic face of the brand, the charming salesman who schmoozed investors at expensive dinners.

But over the last two years, Victor had completely changed.

He had started siphoning millions of dollars from their joint corporate accounts to fund a lavish, secret lifestyle for Elise. He bought the mistress sports cars, diamonds, and funded her expensive European vacations, all while legally hiding the massive expenses under "corporate marketing" write-offs.

Victor genuinely believed Rachel was too deeply in love with him to ever suspect the fraud.

This morning, Victor had marched into their mansion with his luggage and his mistress, tossing the heavily biased divorce papers onto the glass coffee table. The legal documents demanded Rachel surrender her fifty-percent stake in the company and vacate the multi-million-dollar estate by the end of the week.

He wanted to humiliate her. He wanted to break her spirit so she would blindly sign away her life's work just to end the emotional pain.
