Chapter 3 - The Mistress's Arrogance

The suffocating tension in the sunlit living room was absolutely deafening.

A medium close-up captured Victor’s arrogant expression faltering as the heavy silence stretched. He wasn't used to Rachel being this quiet. He expected her to throw a vase, scream at the mistress, or beg him to stay.

Elise noticed his hesitation and looked at him, suddenly nervous. She squeezed his arm, trying to regain his attention.

"Just sign the papers, Rachel," Elise sneered, her voice dripping with high-society entitlement. "Victor doesn't want you anymore. You’re just embarrassing yourself by dragging this out. He’s taking the company, and I’m taking the house. Just be grateful he’s leaving you with a small settlement."

Rachel didn't look at the mistress. She didn't justify Elise's pathetic existence with a single word.

A tight close-up captured Rachel calmly placing the final page of the divorce documents down onto the glass coffee table. She reached over and picked up an expensive gold pen.

Victor smiled a vicious, triumphant smile. He thought he had won. He genuinely believed that the threat of public humiliation and the shock of seeing Elise standing in her foyer had successfully forced Rachel into absolute, unquestioning submission.

"See?" Victor smirked at Elise. "I told you she would fold. She doesn't have the stomach for a legal fight."

Rachel clicked the gold pen. With absolute, flawless grace, she leaned forward and signed her name boldly across the bottom line of the divorce decree, legally surrendering her half of the company.

👉 Victor stepped forward to grab his victory, entirely unaware that he had just signed his own financial death warrant.
