Chapter 4 - The Folder

Rachel placed the pen down on the glass table.

Victor immediately stepped forward, leaving Elise by the luggage. He reached across the table, eagerly snatching the signed divorce papers with greedy, trembling hands.

"Thank you for finally being reasonable," Victor stated arrogantly, buttoning his suit jacket. "My lawyers will wire you the minimum settlement by Friday. You have until Sunday to clear out your closet."

Rachel remained sitting perfectly still on the white sofa. She slowly looked up at him. Her eyes didn't hold a single ounce of sadness or regret. They radiated the cold, calculating, and absolute indifference of a true apex predator.

"I already did," Rachel replied calmly.

Victor frowned, confused by her statement. He looked toward the sweeping marble staircase, but there were no moving boxes.

"What are you talking about?" Victor demanded, his impatience returning.

Rachel didn't answer him. Instead, she reached into the deep pocket of her luxurious white silk robe. She pulled out a heavy, legally notarized red folder and slid it smoothly across the glass coffee table, stopping it exactly an inch away from his polished shoes.

"I moved my personal assets out of the corporate accounts last month," Rachel stated clinically, completely commanding the room. "And I highly suggest you read what you just signed, Victor."
