Chapter 2 - The Stolen Estate

The heavy, cinematic tension hovering over the bistro table was absolutely suffocating.
Patricia stared down at the oppressive legal documents. Her eyes welled with heavy, burning tears of profound heartbreak. She had spent the last two years grieving the sudden loss of her husband. She had fully supported Samantha and Brandon, paying for their lavish lifestyle, trusting them completely as her only remaining family.
But as she quickly scanned the bold print on the first page, the horrifying reality crashed over her with the force of a nuclear bomb.
It wasn't a standard business contract. It was a complete, irrevocable Power of Attorney.
If Patricia signed it, Samantha and Brandon would instantly gain total, unchecked legal control over Patricia’s massive four-million-dollar estate, her investment portfolios, and the deed to her sprawling family home. They weren't just asking for an allowance. They were legally attempting to strip her of every single asset she owned.
"We know you're getting older, Mom," Brandon sneered, leaning intensely over the table. "You're confused. You need us to manage your finances before you lose it all."
"I am fifty-eight years old, Brandon," Patricia whispered softly, fighting the tears. "I run a successful charity. I am not confused."
