Chapter 1 - The Bald Bride

The grand American hotel ballroom was flawlessly decorated for the luxury wedding of the year. Hundreds of massive white rose floral arrangements lined the aisle, illuminated by the warm, expensive glow of cascading crystal chandeliers.
Two hundred wealthy guests sat in formal evening wear, waiting for the beautiful bride to appear.
But when the heavy mahogany doors finally swung open, a collective, horrified gasp violently ripped through the entire ballroom.
Rachel stepped into the aisle. She was wearing an elegant, breathtaking white strapless ballgown.
But she didn't have her signature waist-length chestnut hair.
Her head was completely, entirely shaved bald.
She wasn't wearing a veil. She wasn't carrying a floral bouquet. Clutched tightly in her hands, pressed against her stunning white gown, was a thick black legal folder.
Standing at the altar, her handsome fiancé Carter took one look at her and physically collapsed. He dropped directly to his knees in his tailored black tuxedo, his face turning the color of wet ash.

"Rachel..." Carter stuttered, his voice cracking in pure, unadulterated panic as she marched toward him. "What are you doing?"
👉 Carter was absolutely terrified, but to understand why a groom was on his knees, you had to see what he did twelve hours earlier.
