Chapter 4 - The Fifteen-Million-Dollar Trap

To the wealthy guests in the ballroom, Carter was a successful entrepreneur.
To Rachel, who had quietly built a massive, fifteen-million-dollar software empire entirely from scratch, Carter was supposed to be her equal.
But the encrypted text messages revealed the devastating truth. Carter was entirely, completely bankrupt. His "business" was a massive fraud built on high-interest loans, and he was currently drowning in millions of dollars of hidden debt.
Two days ago, Carter had presented Rachel with a "minor amendment" to their prenuptial agreement. The amendment included a hidden clause that would instantly grant Carter unrestricted access to fifty percent of Rachel’s liquid assets the absolute second they said "I do."
Rachel had refused to sign it, demanding her lawyers review it first.
That was why Carter shaved her head. He and Diane orchestrated the brutal psychological attack so Carter could swoop into her room this morning, play the hero, and convince a crying, broken bride to blindly sign the amendment just to secure his "unconditional love."
