Chapter 6 - The Altar Confrontation

The massive hotel ballroom went completely, suffocatingly dead silent.

Carter stared up at his bald bride, his breathing erratic and panicked. He had completely lost control of the narrative.

"Rachel... what are you doing?" Carter stuttered, desperately trying to play the concerned, confused groom in front of the two hundred wealthy guests. "What happened to you? Who did this to you?"

Rachel stared down at him. She didn't yell. She didn't slap him.

A chilling, perfectly calm smile slowly spread across her face. Her natural micro-expressions projected a terrifying, lethal authority that made the guests in the front row physically lean back.

"You picked the perfect day, sweetheart," Rachel said coldly. Her voice echoed perfectly through the silent ballroom.

Sitting in the front row, wearing a glittering gold formal gown, was Diane.

The arrogant mother-in-law covered her mouth in absolute horror. Diane realized instantly that their cruel, psychological prank had just violently backfired in front of every single elite socialite in the city.
