Chapter 10 - The Triumphant Exit

An extreme close-up captured Rachel’s face. She didn't look broken. She looked incredibly, profoundly powerful.
With a slow, elegant motion, Rachel dropped the torn halves of the prenuptial agreement directly onto Carter’s crying face. The papers fluttered down, landing on his ruined tuxedo like trash.
"I'm giving you exactly what you earned," Rachel said, her voice calm, final, and absolute.
She didn't wait for his response.
Rachel turned her back to the altar. A satisfied, completely triumphant smile broke across her face.
She walked back down the white rose-lined aisle with breathtaking, cinematic grace. Her bald head caught the warm light of the crystal chandeliers, radiating an undeniable, untouchable beauty.
The guests didn't whisper anymore. As she passed them, several people actually stood up and began to applaud.
Carter remained sobbing on his knees at the altar, desperately clutching the torn pieces of paper as hotel security approached to escort the fraudulent groom out of the building. Diane wept hysterically in the front row, realizing her wealthy, arrogant life was permanently over.

Rachel walked out of the heavy mahogany doors, stepping into a beautiful, fiercely independent future where she was the undisputed queen of her own empire.
If you were Rachel, would you have warned Carter about the federal investigation, or was letting him get arrested in his tuxedo the absolute perfect revenge?
