Chapter 10 - The Family Reborn

The chaos faded as Marcus was thrown into the back of a police cruiser. The elite guests slowly left the hall, leaving the room quiet and peaceful.

Anna stood in the center of the marble floor, the crushing, agonizing weight of the last two weeks finally lifting off her shoulders. She was safe. She had her life back.

She felt a gentle tug on the bottom of Arthur's heavy black coat.

Anna looked down. Little Emma was standing there, holding a pair of soft, warm slippers she had taken from the coat check room.

"Here," Emma smiled sweetly, holding them up. "So your feet aren't cold anymore."

Anna completely broke down. She dropped to her knees on the marble floor and pulled the little girl into a fierce, tearful embrace, weeping with absolute joy and gratitude. Arthur walked over and knelt down beside them, wrapping his strong arms around both of them, offering a silent, unbreakable vow of protection.

In the months that followed, Marcus was sentenced to forty years in a maximum-security prison. Anna reclaimed her father’s empire, growing it into a massive charitable organization that built shelters for the homeless across the city.

But the greatest treasure she found wasn't her billions.

Anna and Arthur fell deeply in love, their bond forged in the darkest, coldest night of her life. A year later, they were married in that exact same church. And as Anna walked down the aisle in a stunning white gown, she held Emma’s hand, finally finding the one thing she had wanted more than anything in the world: a real, loving family.

Do you think a forty-year prison sentence was enough justice for Marcus, or did the cruel brother deserve to be left barefoot in the snow himself?
