Chapter 8 - The Hidden Truth

Anna stepped out from behind Arthur’s broad shoulders. The terror that had paralyzed her for two weeks evaporated, replaced by a fierce, burning anger.
"I'm not an imposter, Marcus," Anna said, walking slowly down the center aisle. Every elite guest parted for her like the Red Sea. "And I'm not a drug addict. But you are a monster."
"You have no proof!" Marcus screamed, gripping the edges of the podium so tightly his knuckles turned white. "It's your word against mine! You were always crazy, Anna! Nobody will believe you!"
Anna stopped in the middle of the room.
She reached her cold, trembling hands down to the hem of her thin, worn beige dress.
For two weeks, through the freezing blizzards, the starvation, and the absolute hell of living on the streets, Anna had refused to throw this dress away. Because before Marcus threw her out of his car, she had managed to grab one thing from the dashboard.
Anna ripped the seam of her dress open.
From inside the torn fabric, she pulled out a small, metallic dashboard dashcam storage drive.
Marcus stopped breathing. His arrogant, defensive posture completely collapsed.

"Your car’s interior security camera automatically uploads to the cloud, Marcus," Anna stated coldly, holding the drive up for the entire room to see. "But I took the physical backup. The one that recorded you injecting my tea, laughing on the phone with your lawyer, and carrying my unconscious body into your trunk."
