Chapter 2 - The Stolen Patents

The cinematic realism of the heavy, toxic atmosphere completely paralyzed the dark study. Declan slowly stood up to his full, towering height. He genuinely believed he had backed his treacherous wife into an inescapable corner. For the last seven weeks, he had employed elite private investigators to track Nora’s every single move.

He thought she was selling his company’s most highly classified tech patents to a rival CEO.

"There are no more questions, Nora," Declan stated coldly, adjusting his unbuttoned white shirt. "Warren's security team intercepted your car tonight. We know you just came from the Sterling Corporation. We know you tried to hand off my intellectual property. That USB drive is the only piece of physical evidence left."

Warren stepped out of the shadows, his silver hair catching the dim, moody lighting. "Give us the drive, Mrs. Ashford. If you hand it over quietly, Declan has graciously agreed to file for a quiet, uncontested divorce. You leave with nothing, but you stay out of federal prison."

Nora didn't flinch. She slowly turned her head to look at the sixty-year-old advisor. She knew exactly who Warren was. He wasn't just a corporate advisor; he was the ruthless architect of Declan’s darkest, most illegal operations.

"You're very confident for a man who is about to lose everything, Warren," Nora whispered smoothly, completely devoid of fear.

👉 Nora slowly stood up from the leather chair, preparing to completely shatter her husband's arrogant illusion.
