Chapter 8 - The Live Stream

Nora slowly unbuttoned the top of her wet cream raincoat. Pinned discreetly to the collar of her blouse was a tiny, glowing red microphone.
"The USB drive was just a prop to keep you talking," Nora stated clinically, completely devoid of human mercy. "This entire conversation, including your violent destruction of evidence and your complete confession to the audio recordings, has been streaming live for the last fifteen minutes."
"Streaming to who?!" Warren panicked loudly, aggressively grabbing the edge of the desk to keep from collapsing.
"To the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Nora replied flawlessly. "And to the entire Board of Directors of my father's company."
The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing defeat completely overwhelmed the dark study. Declan realized his entire multi-million-dollar empire, his arrogant pride, and his freedom had just been permanently erased in a matter of seconds. He hadn't just been caught; he had been completely, publicly exposed while attempting to destroy his own wife.
"You set me up!" Declan screamed aggressively, raising his fist to strike her.
