Chapter 3 - The Right Question

"The game hasn't even started," Nora replied, her voice a freezing, lethal calm.

Water dripped from her cream raincoat onto the expensive Persian rug. She walked deliberately toward the massive mahogany desk, entirely unfazed by the two powerful men trying to intimidate her. She looked down at the torn wedding photo resting near Declan's knuckles.

"You asked me if I expect you to accept my lies," Nora stated, her eyes locking onto the pale scar on Declan's chin. "But you didn't ask the right question, Declan. You should be asking what I was actually doing for the last seven weeks."

Declan’s dark eyes narrowed into lethal slits. "You were stealing my patents."

"I don't care about your patents," Nora whispered coldly.

Without breaking eye contact, Nora aggressively shoved the black USB drive directly into the port of Declan's massive desktop monitor facing the room. The large screen instantly illuminated the dark study, casting a harsh, pale blue light across Declan's furious face.

"Stop her!" Warren barked from the background, his corporate instincts suddenly flaring with genuine panic.

But Declan held up his hand, stopping his advisor. He was too arrogant. He genuinely wanted to see what pathetic excuse his wife had brought to defend herself. He expected to see forged contracts or a desperate plea for financial mercy.

👉 Declan physically stopped breathing as he read the name boldly printed at the top of the illegal account.
