Chapter 6 - The Lethal Conspiracy

"This is completely inadmissible!" Warren shrieked wildly, violently pointing a trembling finger at Nora. "You illegally wiretapped a private residence! Any judge will throw that audio out of court! You have absolutely nothing!"

Nora slowly turned her head to look at the panicking sixty-year-old man.

"I didn't wiretap the house, Warren," Nora explained flawlessly, her voice echoing with lethal authority. "I hired a private forensic accounting firm. They didn't need to bug the room because you were arrogant enough to upload your dictaphone recordings directly to the company's unsecured cloud server."

Warren stopped breathing. The air in the luxury study was completely sucked out. The brilliant, untouchable legal advisor had just been completely outsmarted by a woman he had severely underestimated.

The audio file continued to play, revealing an even darker, more sinister plot.

"If she suspects anything before the audit," Warren’s recorded voice echoed through the speakers, his tone chillingly casual, "I'll have my security team tamper with the brakes on her Mercedes. A tragic accident in the rain solves everything."

Declan and Warren both froze in absolute, unadulterated terror. It wasn't just corporate embezzlement anymore. It was a documented, premeditated conspiracy to commit murder.
