Chapter 5 - The Dictaphone Confession

"You were going to frame me," Nora stated clinically, completely dominating the silent study. "You spent two years draining my father's legacy, intentionally routing the stolen funds through my personal trust so the IRS would blame me."

Warren frantically stepped forward, his silver hair completely disheveled as his sophisticated persona shattered. "Declan, shut the computer down! She's recording this!"

"I'm not recording anything, Warren," Nora replied smoothly, a chilling, victorious smirk touching the corner of her lips. "I don't need to. I already have the audio."

Nora tapped the keyboard. The offshore banking ledger vanished, instantly replaced by a black audio waveform file. Before Declan could lunge across the desk to stop her, Nora hit play.

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing tension completely electrified the room.

The crisp, undeniable audio recording echoed loudly from the expensive surround-sound speakers. It was Declan's voice, recorded exactly seven weeks ago inside this very study.

"As soon as the feds find the Cayman account, Nora is finished," the recorded Declan laughed cruelly. "Warren, make sure the divorce papers are filed the exact same morning she gets arrested. I want full control of her father's estate by Christmas."

Declan physically staggered backward, his dark suit wrinkling as his knees buckled. His own voice had just completely, irreversibly condemned him to federal prison.

👉 Warren realized the ship was sinking, and the ruthless advisor immediately turned on his own boss.
