Chapter 2 - The Stolen Suitcase

The cinematic realism of the terrifying, suffocating tension completely electrified the warm kitchen.
To understand the absolute, unhinged cruelty currently freezing the blood in Patricia's veins, one had to look at the last six months of her marriage. Patricia had worked sixty-hour weeks at her corporate firm to entirely fund a luxurious, ten-day Christmas vacation to a private villa in the Bahamas for her and her husband. It was supposed to be a romantic getaway to save their failing marriage.
But exactly two days ago, Patricia had discovered the horrific truth. Ryan had secretly called the airline and changed the passenger names on the first-class tickets. He was completely abandoning his wife on Christmas week to take his toxic mother and his entitled sister on a fully paid, luxury Caribbean vacation using Patricia's hard-earned money. They had literally stolen her clothes, packed her suitcases, and driven to the airport this morning while she was asleep.
"What do you mean, how were the sandwiches?!" Ryan shrieked wildly, violently waving his arms. "The ticket agent completely humiliated us at the desk! She said the entire itinerary was permanently canceled and non-refundable!"
Teresa aggressively stepped forward, her burgundy winter coat rustling.
"You ruined our family vacation, Patricia!" the cruel mother-in-law sneered coldly, crossing her arms. "My son works hard! He deserves a tropical break, and you maliciously canceled his flights out of pure, bitter jealousy!"
"I didn't cancel the flights, Teresa," Patricia stated clinically, her deep voice carrying a freezing, lethal frequency.
Lauren scoffed loudly, adjusting her grip on Patricia's stolen turquoise suitcase. "Then why were we turned away by security?! Fix it right now! We are supposed to be on a beach!"

Patricia didn't yell. Her quietness was infinitely more terrifying. She gently tapped her manicured finger against a thick, formally folded letter resting right beside her coffee mug.
👉 Ryan aggressively snatched the letter off the counter, completely unprepared for the absolute devastation waiting inside.
