Chapter 4 - The Corporate Foreclosure

"You... you sold the house?" Ryan whispered, profound panic actively destroying his mind.

The heavy, toxic silence in the Columbus townhouse was absolutely deafening.

Teresa physically staggered backward, her burgundy coat wrinkling as she completely lost her arrogant balance. "What did he just say?!"

"I didn't sell it," Patricia explained flawlessly, ensuring the toxic in-laws heard every single devastating word. "I surrendered the deed to my corporate firm. Because this townhouse was purchased completely under a corporate relocation package in my name. The exact second I transferred my department, the firm actively reclaimed the property."

"You transferred your department?!" Ryan wailed hysterically, completely abandoning his sophisticated persona. He looked like a feral, cornered animal.

"I transferred to the London office," Patricia stated clinically, setting her coffee mug down. "Effective immediately. I'm moving to the United Kingdom on a massive executive promotion."

"But this is our home!" Ryan roared aggressively, violently pointing at the warm fairy lights and the beautiful Christmas tree. "You can't just surrender our house! Where am I supposed to live?!"

"You aren't supposed to live here, Ryan," Patricia whispered coldly, entirely devoid of human mercy.

Lauren dropped the heavy turquoise suitcase onto the kitchen floor with a loud, terrified thud. "Ryan, what is she talking about?! You told us you owned this townhouse! You told us you paid for the Bahama vacation!"

"He lied to you," Patricia replied smoothly, completely dominating the room.

👉 Patricia stood up from the kitchen island, entirely ready to completely shatter the pathetic financial illusion her husband had built.
