Chapter 8 - The Immediate Eviction

"The corporate holding company that owns this property explicitly bypasses standard eviction laws for terminated occupants," Patricia explained flawlessly, looking directly into Ryan's terrified eyes.
"You can't bypass federal housing laws!" Ryan shrieked, completely losing his mind.
"I can," Patricia replied smoothly, "because the firm officially reclaimed this property at midnight last night. Which means you aren't tenants anymore. You are actively trespassing on a multi-million-dollar corporate asset."
Heavy, wailing sirens aggressively shattered the quiet, snowy neighborhood outside.
Intense red and blue emergency lights violently illuminated the frosted kitchen windows, flashing brightly across the decorated Christmas tree. Patricia hadn't just packed her bags; she had actively, flawlessly orchestrated the exact time and place of their absolute public destruction.
"No! No, please!" Ryan wailed hysterically, dropping to his knees on the kitchen floor. "Patricia, I'm your husband! You can't let them arrest me!"
"You stopped being my husband the second you crossed out my name on that boarding pass," Patricia whispered coldly.
The heavy front door violently burst open.
Four heavily armed corporate security officers, accompanied by two local police officers, marched directly into the warm townhouse. They completely bypassed the beautiful Christmas tree and walked straight into the kitchen.
