Chapter 6 - The Mother's Betrayal

"You stole her money to buy our tickets?!" Teresa roared aggressively, violently shoving her son's shoulder.

The mother-in-law completely dropped her protective stance. She didn't care that her son's marriage was ending. She only cared about her own elite reputation and the terrifying realization that she was actively holding stolen goods.

"Mom, please!" Ryan wailed pathetically, desperately trying to grab her burgundy coat. "I did it for you! You said you wanted to go to the beach!"

"I didn't tell you to commit federal fraud!" Teresa shrieked hysterically, completely throwing him under the bus. She turned to Patricia, forcing a fake, terrified smile onto her powdered face. "Patricia, honey, we had absolutely no idea! We are completely innocent! Please don't press charges against us!"

Lauren aggressively unbuttoned her camel coat, frantic to take off the stolen white linen sundress she was wearing underneath.

"I'm taking this off right now!" Lauren panicked loudly, violently kicking the turquoise suitcase away from her. "I didn't know he packed your clothes! Ryan, you are a complete psychopath!"

Patricia watched the toxic family tear themselves apart with profound, cold satisfaction. She didn't offer them an ounce of mercy.

"You can take the dress off, Lauren," Patricia whispered coldly. "But you can't take back the fact that Ryan opened three separate credit lines in your name to pay for the hotel reservations."
