Chapter 1 - The Uninvited Guest

The soft natural daylight of the bright, sprawling mansion kitchen was incredibly peaceful. Tall, custom glass windows overlooked a perfectly landscaped garden, bathing the pristine white marble island in a warm, cinematic glow.
But the tranquility of the morning had just been violently shattered.
Emily, a stunning woman in her mid-thirties with her brown hair pinned in a loose, elegant low bun, stood near the center island. Wearing a crisp cream blouse and tailored navy trousers, she was the picture of composure. However, her dark eyes tracked the older woman pacing arrogantly across her imported hardwood floors.
Her mother, a woman in her early sixties with carefully styled blonde-gray hair, wore an expensive beige coat over a floral dress. She clutched a designer handbag tightly in the crook of her arm. It had been seven years since she last spoke to Emily—seven years since she kicked Emily out with absolutely nothing to prioritize her deadbeat "golden boy" son, Jason.
Yet, here she was, having somehow tracked down Emily’s new address, treating the multimillion-dollar estate like an open house.
The older woman dragged her hand across the polished marble countertop, a smug, deeply satisfied smile stretching across her face. She turned and gestured grandly toward the expansive hallway leading to the west wing.
“I promised Jason three bedrooms,” the mother stated, her voice dripping with an arrogant, undeniable entitlement. “He’s going to move in this weekend. He needs the space for his new startup, and clearly, you have entirely too much room for one single woman.”
An extreme, cinematic close-up captured Emily’s face. She didn't flinch. She didn't yell. She simply stared at her mother, completely motionless, her realistic micro-expressions betraying a cold, dangerous resolve.
“This is my family’s home,” Emily replied smoothly, her voice a quiet, unshakeable whisper.

The mother rolled her eyes, letting out a harsh, condescending laugh. "Oh, please, Emily. You live alone with a dog. Jason is blood."
