Chapter 12 - Elena Finally Understood Why Victoria Slapped Her
For weeks Elena assumed the restaurant slap came from jealousy.
It didn’t.
Victoria later admitted through counsel that she panicked when Elena stared at the bracelet.
She already knew Elena had found it once.
Alejandro had told her.
But he assured Victoria the divorce settlement closed all financial questions.
When Elena looked directly at the bracelet and calmly folded her napkin, Victoria realized something.
Elena knew more.
The slap was not confidence.
It was fear.
Exactly like Bianca staring toward a coat table or Meredith looking at a USB in another family’s nightmare, fear sometimes appears seconds before evidence does.
Victoria hit Elena because Elena’s silence scared her more than an accusation would have.
Then Elena said:
You’ll need it tomorrow.
That confirmed everything Victoria feared.
