Chapter 7 - Richard Had Not Secretly Engineered the Audit for His Daughter

Elena worried about that.

The moment she discovered Mercer Private Credit owned part of Alejandro’s loan, she called her father.

“Did you know?”

Richard asked:

“Know what?”

She sent him the borrower page.

There was a long pause.

Then Richard said:

“No.”

His firm managed hundreds of credit positions through multiple teams.

He did not personally review every borrower.

Elena asked him something important.

“Are you going to use this against him because of me?”

“No.”

“Dad.”

“I mean it.”

Richard transferred oversight of Alejandro’s loan to an independent committee and disclosed the family connection.

He removed himself from decisions.

Elena respected him for that.

She did not want revenge disguised as finance.

She wanted the existing rules applied normally.

And normally, when a lender discovers restricted funds may have been used improperly—

it investigates.

That was what the blue folder represented.

Not Richard destroying Alejandro.
