Chapter 13 - Noah’s Mother Came Back Into the Picture Carefully
Noah’s biological mother, Caroline, had been largely absent since he was one.
She had struggled with addiction and instability after the marriage ended.
Rocco had primary custody.
For years, contact remained limited and supervised.
Bianca had used that history too.
Her private notes repeatedly described Noah as:
a child already abandoned by one mother figure.
The phrasing revealed another layer of cruelty.
Bianca believed Noah’s abandonment history made him easier to control.
More desperate for approval.
More frightened of being sent away.
When Caroline learned what happened, she did not suddenly become a perfect mother.
She did something more realistic.
She called Rocco’s attorney.
Asked whether Noah was safe.
Then asked if she could send him a letter through his therapist.
No demands.
No attempt to use the scandal against Rocco.
Just:
Tell him I love him and I am working on being someone safe enough to see him more.
Rocco allowed the therapist to decide when it was appropriate.
Healing did not require replacing one unstable adult with another too quickly.
