Chapter 9 - Rocco Had Been the Perfect Target Because He Was Always Gone

Bianca did not choose Rocco only because he was wealthy.
She chose his schedule.
Rocco spent years building Bellacorte Hospitality into a regional company.
Meetings.
Properties.
Flights.
Late dinners.
After Noah’s mother left the marriage when the boy was an infant, Rocco became more protective emotionally but not necessarily more present physically.
He hired excellent help.
Trusted Evelyn.
Built routines.
Then Bianca entered.
She told him:
“You don’t have to carry everything alone.”
He wanted to believe her.
So he gave her access.
Schedules.
Household decisions.
Information about Noah.
Eventually authority she had never earned.
Bianca’s private notes contained one sentence that hurt more than the financial plan:
Rocco sees what he expects to see.
She was right.
When he came home and Noah wore clean clothes, he assumed clean clothes were normal.
He did not ask what happened while he was gone.
When Bianca said Noah had already eaten, he believed her.
When Noah became clingier, Rocco assumed it was wedding anxiety.
Bianca did not need to fool him every minute.
She only needed to manage the moments he witnessed.

That realization changed Rocco permanently.
