Chapter 10 - Damiano Had To Answer For The Shove Too
Damiano had protected Marina.
That did not mean every part of his reaction became automatically righteous.
Helena reached for Marina first.
Damiano knocked her hand away.
That was enough to interrupt the contact.
Then he shoved Helena hard into the storage bins.
Later Marina asked him:
“Did you have to push her that hard?”
Damiano did not evade.
“No.”
“She could have gotten seriously hurt.”
“I know.”
“Why did you?”
“Because I heard what she said to you and lost control.”
Marina stared at him.
“That isn’t the same as protecting me.”
“No.”
He gave a full account to the warehouse security investigator and family attorneys.
Helena suffered bruising but no serious injury.
No charges were immediately pursued, though lawyers warned Damiano that context did not erase potential liability.
That mattered to Marina.
She did not want the lesson of the warehouse to become:
Powerful people may use force when angry as long as they believe they are protecting someone.
Helena had spent years believing power justified whatever she wanted.
