Chapter 6 - The Sister's Arrival

Before Chloe could even reach for her phone to dial 911, the heavy wooden front door of the house violently burst open.
"Chloe!" a sharp, aggressive voice shrieked from the hallway.
It was Rachel.
She wasn't in the hospital for exhaustion. She had checked herself out the second she realized the hospital staff was asking too many questions. Rachel marched directly into the kitchen, wearing a designer trench coat and heavy sunglasses. She looked completely unhinged, her perfect high-society facade cracking under immense paranoia.
"Where is she?!" Rachel demanded aggressively, marching into the kitchen. "I'm taking my daughter home right now!"
Chloe stood up slowly from the tiled floor, completely blocking Rachel’s line of sight to the table where Bailey was hiding.
Chloe didn't yell. The absolute, terrifying restraint she showed was infinitely more dangerous than screaming. She looked at her sister with pure, unadulterated disgust.
"She isn't going anywhere with you, Rachel," Chloe stated coldly, her voice echoing perfectly in the silent kitchen.
Rachel sneered, stepping aggressively closer. "You don't have a choice. I have legal custody. Hand her over, or I'm calling the police for kidnapping."
